Intrauterine Insemination Article - Maryland Fertility CenterOvarian reserve testing is done to identify patients who are at risk of diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). Over time, eggs decrease in quantity and quality and do not regenerate. The number of human eggs in a female is approximately 1–2 million at birth, and approximately 400,000 at the start of puberty. Although this reproductive decline occurs with age, there is significant variation in fertility among women of similar age, which highlights the unpredictability and individuality of the reproductive aging process. Ovarian reserve testing cannot predict menopause, but abnormal results should encourage the patient to consider more aggressive treatment options to achieve pregnancy.

INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION - An Excellent First Line Treatment for Infertility

Intrauterine Insemination Article - Maryland Fertility CenterInsemination procedures are utilized to improve fertility.  Initially, inseminations were done by placing the semen sample on the cervix (cervical insemination).  It worked well for patients needing donor sperm insemination or insemination of partner’s sperm due to intercourse or ejaculation problems, but it was less successful in patients with infertility diagnoses.
